Normski’s London Beat presents:
Kissy
The IRF London Pop-Up Edition welcomes Kissy, who adds: “I’m really excited to part of this, they’ve got a great bunch of people involved and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and rinsing out some fresh music!”
More impressions on IRF Facebook.
One of the UK’s finest, Kissy Sell Out continues to be a hugely influential name in electro and bassline scenes all over the world. In 2009 Mixmag described him as “one of the most exciting, charismatic and entertaining DJs of the decade”.
Based in East London, where he runs the independent record label San City High, his eccentric name fronts a formidable discography offering some of the most unique signature-sounding dance music productions you’re ever likely to come across.
While he may be as likely to be spotted debating against Stephen Fry at Cambridge University as he is to be found on a tour bus with the impressive roster of DJs and producers signed to San City High, Kissy has constantly gone against the grain of bland commercialism and won the hearts of music lovers all over the world in the process.
The loony idea of 2012 signalling the end of the world maybe an unlikely prospect but the new material Kissy will be dropping in the coming months at least means we’ll be going out with a bang! New singles featuring hook-ups with Herve, TAI, Saint Saviour, Queen Of Hearts, Ty, The Squatters, DJ Taku, Tom Piper, Rob Sparx and Hatcha are ALL in the bag and ready to drop in the latter half of 2012! Plus a fan-funded San City High compilation is also sure to assist in making many a teenager’s next door neighbour furious at the sub-pumping speaker ammo on show.
From 2007-2012 he hosted a hugely successful BBC Radio 1 show called the “Kissy Klub”. With that radio show, Kissy became an influential force in the developing electro scene not just as a producer but as a taste-maker too. Notable players such as Diplo, Felix Da Housecat, Hervé, Uffie & Erol Alkan made regular appearances alongside exclusive tracks Kissy supported which kick-started careers for a long list of breakthrough producers and DJs across the musical spectrum. His obsessive record store hunting even earned him the accolades of not only being the first person to interview Skrillex and Ed Sheeran on Radio 1 but also the first ever person to play a Lady Gaga record on national radio!
As crowds continue to flock toward the big man with a big heart and an even bigger sound….the party rolls on. LONG LIVE THE KISSY KLUB!!
