As the world waits in excited anticipation for the forthcoming 2012 Olympic Games, the International Radio Festival has recruited radio presenter, producer, DJ and music journalist Gabby Sanderson to host a daily two hour program live from 20th July to 12th August at their special pop-up edition of the International Radio Festival in London during the 2012 Olympic Games.
In the prime time slot of 5pm-7pm Gabby will be broadcasting each day out of a Swiss Postal Bus from the House of Switzerland, the traditional official Swiss hospitality centre alongside the Thames by London Bridge, during the Olympics. As well as giving the Swiss athletes and politicians a ‘run for their money’, Gabby will be joined by some of the UK’s highest profile musicians and artists and will be putting them through their paces. The program will showcase the finest in Swiss and the UK’s musical talent, in a variety of genres, adding some Gabby sparkle and charm along the way.
Together with FIX Ibiza’s Jillian Canney, Gabby was the mastermind, creator and front woman for ‘Ibiza Rocks the Radio’ broadcast for the past two years on Ibiza Global Radio, with her podcasts from the show grossing 200,000 downloads and 50,000 subscribers on iTunes. She was also responsible for ‘Fierce and Fabulous’ on Shoreditch Radio before moving to RTE and establishing herself on 2XM with ‘The Xclusive’ her AAA pass for listeners into the wonderful world of the music industry.
Gabby also writes ‘I’m with the Band’ for Ireland’s leading music magazine Hotpress and comes with a wealth of music knowledge and radio passion which led her to go to become with only female UK radio anchor for The International Radio Festival at the Olympics.
Gabby herself says “I was delighted to have been a part of 2011 International Radio Festival in Zurich. What founders Darryl von Däniken and Miguel Alvarez have achieved in uniting the world’s best radio disk jockeys and programs, and showcasing their aptitude via the festival’s platform, was incredible and so much fun! To now have been integrated into the International Radio Festival’s programming for the Olympics is a dream come true. Broadcasting on London 2 London’s largest DAB multiplex with the potential to reach more than 11 million people marking the first time that Switchdigital have launched a pop-up radio service on its network, is radio history in the making. I am beyond excited be part of this once in a lifetime experience.”
